Food is meant to be fuel. People who are successful with weight loss begin to think of food in this way. Food can be satisfying, but when you are done eating, I encourage you to move on. When food is too delicious, enticing, and thought of as a treat, we tend to overeat. It is okay to make 80-90% of your meals boring. It is also okay to eat the same meals repeatedly, especially if you know the meals keep you full and satisfied. Your day will be easier, and you likely will learn how to prepare the foods quicker and also fuel your family in the process more effectively. When you have meals on repeat, you are likely not to consider it special and are less likely to over-eat.
What do you do when it comes to the other 10-20% of the foods you just love to over-eat? I recommend that if you want to eat for enjoyment, then have a normal-sized portion and move on.
Don’t get trapped into “all the special occasions” and having “too much exciting food” which can be especially problematic during the holidays!
